Safety Notes

Essential oils are generally safe and well-tolerated by most individuals. When used mindfully, they can be a beautiful addition to your daily rituals. Here’s how to keep the magic safe and balanced:

Dilution

Each blend is crafted with love and diluted in organic, cold-pressed almond oil for easy, safe application. Remember, undiluted essential oils are too intense for direct skin application.

Patch Test, Please!

Before diving in, try a little patch test on your wrist and wait 24 hours, just to make sure your skin feels happy and loved. Better safe than sorry!

Mom’s (to be)

Expecting or nursing? My oil blends are diluted and mostly soft, however, check with your trusted healthcare provider before using these blends—especially ones like Clary Sage may interfere with your new hormones and the uterus. Avoid strong and citrusy scents like Mint, Fennel, Bergamot or Rosemary. More on this topic below.

Photosensitivity

Citrusy oils like Bergamot and Sweet Orange can make your skin extra sensitive to direct sunlight. Enjoy them in the morning and avoid a beach day with direct sunlight on those areas (Kapha and Digestive fire rollers).

The Little Ones

Avoid using any essential oils and blends for children under the age of 2 years, as their systems are highly sensitive. For kids above this age, avoid strong oils like Peppermint and Rosemary. They are to be found in the Kapha and Pitta Roller.

Specific Conditions

If you have any medical conditions, such as epilepsy, or are taking medications, consult a healthcare professional before using essential oils. Rosemary and Sweet Fennel for example, may interact with epilepsy.

For External Use Only

These blends are designed for topical use or as sprays for your environment. They are not intended for ingestion. Also not the Digestive Fire Roller! Essential oils aren’t meant to be taken internally. This follows the safety guidelines from the International Federation of Aromatherapists. Since oils don’t mix with water alone, using them undiluted could harm the lining of your intestines. Plus, some can be toxic if ingested. There’s a myth that taking oils internally works better, but actually, our digestive system only absorbs what it needs. When applied topically though, your skin can absorb up to 40% of diluted oils, making it a beautiful and safe way to enjoy their benefits!

Avoid Contact With Eyes

Essential oils and eyes are not the best of friends. If you get a bit too close, rinse with water and seek some extra care if things still feel a little off. What you can put in your eyes is organic ghee or 100% pure castor oil (really!? YES really!).

Proper Storage

Store your blends in a cool, dark spot to keep their goodness alive for longer. Oil blends can be preserved this way for 1-2 years.

Wholesome Pregnancy and Nursing

As mom (to be), keep in mind that your safety and comfort come first. Essential oils can be a gentle support when used mindfully. Here’s what to keep in mind while you embrace this special time:

First Trimester Caution

It’s best to avoid essential oils during the first trimester when the baby’s development is most sensitive.

Recommended Dilution

A 1% dilution (1 drop per teaspoon of carrier oil) is ideal for a gentle experience during pregnancy. My blends are diluted properly in general. For mom’s (to be) I would advise to use in moderation.

Oils To Avoid

Steer away from Clary Sage, Rosemary, Peppermint, Sweet Fennel, due to their stimulating nature and effect on the uterus. These are the following rollers: Kapha, Pitta, Digestive Fire and Moon Days.

Safe Options (all after the first trimester)

Lavender, Frankincense and Sweet Violet are often more gentle. Always suggest checking with a healthcare provider when feeling unsure. The following roller and spray can be soothing when used in moderation: Vata & Moonrise Mist. I’m working on a new blend just for mom’s (to be)!

Listen To Your Intuition

Encourage moms to trust their instincts and avoid any oils that feel too strong or overwhelming.

Nausea Support

My upcoming blend will be specifically designed to support against nausea during pregnancy—stay tuned!
